The Background of Kavach

The company is owned by the PRS Group of Companies [known as PRS Group], whose current Chairman is Mr. Sushil K. Premchand.

PRS Permacel is guided by a Board of Directors, consisting of eminent professionals from the industry. The day-to-day operations are managed by an independent team of professionals, under the leadership of Mr. Nityanand S. Shenoy, President & Managing Director.


Mr. Sushil K. Premchand
Chairman

Sushil Premchand is directly responsible for implementing client acquisition strategies. He has over 40 years of experience in dealing with both large global entities and typical SME businesses. As Chairman of the PRS Group, Mumbai, he is responsible for the business in Switzerland and India, and ensures that Swiss client service standards are maintained in India. He also exercises oversight on the Group’s own portfolio of intellectual property, comprising 24 patents, to which about 10 are added annually.

An economics graduate of the University of Bristol [1964-67] and a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales [admitted in 1971], Sushil joined the family business in 1985. He had previously spent fourteen years with the international accounting firm, Arthur Andersen, in London, Hamburg and Zurich, and four years as the General Manager of the Zug subsidiaries of the British multinational, Associated Communications Corporation.

He is a past President of the Swiss-Indian Chamber of Commerce and continues as Honorary President and Board Member. In 2004, he was appointed to the Advisory Board of Directors of the Foundation of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Sushil has lived in Switzerland since 1977 and travels to India six to eight times a year to monitor the activities of the family business.


Mr. Nityanand Shenoy
President & Managing Director

Nityanand Shenoy completed his B-Tech (Mechanical Engineering) from NIT, Surathkal in 1983 and joined Mico-Bosch as a Technical Graduate Trainee. After a short two year stint, he joined the Indian Institute of Management – Bangalore to complete his MBA (Marketing & Finance) in 1987.

He then joined M/s. Godrej and Boyce in June 1987 and worked in the Marketing Department of their Industrial Business Division.

In 1990 he joined the Permacel division of Johnson & Johnson Limited as Product Manager and within a short span of five years was designated as General Manager (Marketing).

In 1999 when the PRS Group bought out the Permacel division from J&J, Nityanand Shenoy joined the newly-named company PRS Permacel as Vice President-Marketing.

From 2000 until the present date, he has held various positions, such as Head of Kavach Business, SBU Head of Automobile Business and Executive Director (Operations), before being appointed as President & Managing Director in January 2011.

Nityanand Shenoy is a well-known figure in the brand protection industry in India and has been a speaker on the sybject at many domestic and international forums. He is also well known in the printing industry, especially in the area of automobile graphics. He is the joint holder of many technical patents in the area of brand protection and printing


Dr. Somnath Bhattacharya
Vice President
Research and Development

Dr. Somnath Bhattacharya completed his Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry in 1979 at Jabalpur University. He subsequently worked within the plastic processing industry for about 6 years before joining the Permacel Division of Johnson& Johnson at their Andheri facility.

In 2005, Dr. Bhattacharya took charge of the R&D functions as General Manager - R&D, and was promoted to Vice President - R&D in April 2011.During his time in the Quality Assurance Department, he was instrumental in achieving ISO 9001 certification in 1995 and ISO 14001 in 2000 for the Andheri facility.He is also a trained Quality Auditor and has conducted various audits in India and abroad.

Currently, as a senior leadership team member, Somnath Bhattacharya is actively involved in the Technology Patenting activities as well as PRS Permacel’s “Green“ initiative. His aim is to build strategic technology alliances with in and outside of India.


Mr. Rajesh Vaity
General Marketing Manager

Rajesh Vaity completed his B.E. (Production Engineering) from M. H. Saboo Siddik, Mumbai in 1993 and joined M/s Mahindra and Mahindra (Tractor Division) as a Graduate Engineering Trainee.After a short two year period, he joined the Institute of Technology and Management (ITM) – Mumbai to complete his MBA (Marketing) in 1997.

He then joined M/s. Multi-Arc India Limited in May 1997 as a Management Trainee and held various positions in the company as Executive - New Business Development, EA to the CMD,Manager – Corporate Marketing and New Business Development–Coating Centre Head.

In Oct 2007 he joined PRS Permacel as Group Product Manager and within a short span of five years was designated as General Marketing Manager – Permacel in April 2012.

Subsequently he has held various positions, such as Marketing Manager – Automotive Business Division,General Marketing Manager - Automotive Business Division, before being appointed as General Marketing Manager – Permacel.


Mr. Dinesh Anam
Divisonal Manager

Mr. Dinesh M. Anam completed his M.Sc. (Part I) in Analytical Chemistry from UDC, Bombay University and started his career with M/s Johnson & Johnson in June 1977 at their Mulund Works in the quality department, looking after the quality function of all major divisions including the Permacel Division. While working, he studied and completed his Masters degree, securing second rank at University level in 1978. Moving through various positions in quality function, he entered the middle management level in 1985, after completing his Diploma in Management Studies in 1985 from K. J Somaiya Institute of Management & Research affiliated to Bombay University.

While in R&D, and more specifically in the nineties, he saw an emerging opportunity in the field of thermal insulation and developed a new range of products in the thermal category, opening up new horizons for the company´s business. The development of the thermal range brought him to a new role of Marketing and he is currently the Divisional Manager, instrumental in product development and marketing function for "Defence & Aerospace Business", catering to the needs of thermal products range for all the business segments of company.


Mr. Samir Deb
Sales Manager Kolkotta

Samir joined the Permacel Division of Johnson & Johnson at Kolkata office in 1985, where he held various positions  in Insulation business as well as in Railways segment. From the time Kavach was formed as a separate Division Samir holds the responsibility of handling and growing Kavach business in eastern region with special focus on Power Distribution companies.


Mr. Pravin Khanna
Head - Kavach Projects

Pravin is an accomplished, senior innovative professional with considerable hands-on experience encompassing over three decades of progressive knowledge in handling a wide industry segment.  He evaluates customer needs and requirements in identified markets and drives sales of Kavach projects.   He is a key member of the Kavach team, developing customised solutions for Kavach projects.
